"Mothman"

An 8"" by 10"" lino block print of the mothman flying out above a tree in the wilderness. The eyes are painted red with water color paint. This listing is for one of the prints from the 10 editions made. It comes without a matte and unframed.

Perhaps the most widely known and talked about modern myth is that of the Mothman, a creature first documented in the late 1960s. Since then, the Mothman has been spotted countless times in the United States. Some say it’s a harbinger of cataclysmic events. Others say it’s an alien life form with connections to UFOs and Men in Black. Many think it has a more practical explanation, is a hoax, or is the product of mass hysteria.

As legends go, the mysterious Mothman began his reign in 1966 when he started appearing and chasing unsuspecting people in their cars in Point Pleasant, WV. The sightings continued over the year until the 1967 collapse of a bridge that took the lives of at least 64 people. After that rumor had it that he was a premonition before horrific events. Since then the sightings have continued throughout Chicago, Illinois, Ohio, and West Virginia.


The art print was created by me by hand. There are no digital processes involved. I draw out the design by hand, carve it, and press it with ink by hand giving it a one of a kind look. Due to the variation of printing by hand, there may be slight variations between each edition.
